Halloween trick or treating tips... for the treat givers.

1. If you live in a "popular neighborhood," be kind to the interloping trick-or-treaters who are dropped at the curb.  Remember that their neighborhood is probably not safe... or worse... has lame neighbors who hand out pennies for treats! It's a compliment that they came to your neighborhood ... it rocks!

2. If you live in an "unpopular neighborhood," be generous! Hey... those few kids who walked around deserve some good treats.  P.S... no pennies!

3.  Don't judge.  Even if you think the kids look a little too old for trick-or-treating, don't let that ruin the fun of the evening.  Remember that a 12-year-old can look older than you think, and even a 15-year-old doesn't have to "grow up" too soon.  Plus, there are young people with special needs who may want to enjoy the holiday a little bit longer than most kids.

4.  Get into the spirit!  Dress up!  I'm usually some sort of witch every year.  I think the kids appreciate that you are having fun, too!

5.  Done for the night?  Turn off your porch light, and don't answer the door!  Really!  It's that simple.  Even if they ring the doorbell, they will eventually go away if you don't answer!

Autumn blog challenge catch-up

Ok.  I've been a big failure on keeping up with my blog!  I even signed up for another blog challenge to help me.  Oh, well.  So, I answered a bunch of the Blog Challenge questions meme-style to get me going again!  Enjoy!

September 1 - Why have you decided to participate in The Autumn Blog Challenge (The ABC)?

I wanted to do this challenge so that I would keep active on my blog.  That was a total fail!

September 2 - What is your favorite thing about Autumn?

Just one thing?  I love that the hot summer is over, the kids are back in school, and Halloween is here.

September 6 - Make a list of books you want to read next year.

I'm finally going to catch up with my 8-year-old daughter, and finish the Harry Potter series!

September 8 - What is your favorite, "go to" cooking recipe?

If I can cook it in 30 minutes or less, it is a "go to" recipe!

September 10 - What was your favorite subject in school?

Anything academic - biology, chemistry, English, history, Calculus... I was/am such a nerd.

September 11 - What was your least favorite subject in school?

Middle school gym class.  Ick.

September 12 - What was your high school reunion like? If you haven't been yet, do you plan on going?

I didn't go to mine, but we went to my hubby's, and I was so excited to see his high school picture on his name tag!  Asian mullet time!

He's still cute, though.

September 15 - I am a people person except for people....

In crowds, or people who don't respect my personal space... or people I don't know...hmmm... I don't seem very friendly, do I?

September 23 - I hate being...

late.  Really I do.  It makes me anxious.

September 27 - Make it funny:
Roses are red....
Blogs are somewhat true

I'm a geek
The answer is 42.

October 3 - What is the scariest movie you've ever seen?

Bambi.  Really.  Disney should think before burning up the main character's parents, but telling the audience it's a cute movie about bunnies and deer.

October 17 - If you could have one free service in your home every day what would it be?

Have a robot butler named Hal.

October 26 - What is your favorite word?

Pachycephalosaurus -- Hey, my son is going through a dinosaur phase, and I'm just excited I can pronounce it!
