1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?
We cancelled cable last year. It's been fabulous.2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make new year's resolutions. Just one more thing for me to do! However, I have a new theory. What if I make a resolution to FAIL? I bet I could definitely achieve that in the next year! And I may sound all pessimistic, but really I'm not. It's not the end of the world to fail, right? We should allow ourselves to fail every once in a while. We learn from our mistakes, and can move on. So, here's to failure!3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin just had a baby, but she waited until the new year. Does that count?4. Did anyone close to you die?
My dear puppy, Annabelle, passed away in June. She was our first dog. Also, two of my close friends lost parents this year. Sad face.5. What countries did you visit?
Canada! I don't think that really counts if you are from Michigan, but it did require a passport. Which is just weird.6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
More time. Hey... it's leap year, so I WIN!7. What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Few dates are ever etched into my memory. I doubt any from 2011 will make it into long term memory either.8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I hate these "-ests." Then, when I pick something, it's got to be the better than everything else. So much pressure! However, I did get a nice job promotion, so I'll go with that. You can just call me "the man" now. I guess that's really "the WOman."9. What was your biggest failure?
Again with the "-ests!" Ok. So our big project to restore my dad's (now my) 1967 Microbus has become a giant money pit. I thought we would already have a working bus, but it's still in pieces, though it looks beautiful. I'm hoping we'll get there sometime in 2012.10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing major, but I did have a recurrence of my back injury last August, and that has put a major damper on my yoga plans. It has also increased my visits to the Chiropractor; he's a godsend, but I'd rather just be pain free. My doctor has now scheduled an MRI, but I'm not expecting much to come of that but more tests.
I also realized in the spring of 2011 that I have some minor hearing loss because of a hole in my left eardrum. I have had "Eustachian tube dysfunction" for a number of years; about five years ago I had ear tubes put in, but those have since fallen out. My left ear decided to "resolve" the problem on its own -- with a more permanent hole in my eardrum. This has caused some hearing loss, but not enough to warrant a hearing aid. However, it is enough that I ask "Say again?" a lot in loud restaurants, and tell my kids to "Talk to my face!" when they are speaking. That drives me nuts now!11. What was the best thing you bought?
We bought our trip to DisneyWorld, which is still upcoming in February. The kids are so excited!12. Where did most of your money go?
I keep meaning to ask the bank goblins that... I'll put that on my list for 2012.
|Bank goblins... not pleasant. Sheesh.|
13. What did you get really excited about?
Telling the kids
"We are going the DisneyWorld!"14. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Anything by LMFAO.15. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Still cold, but buried in less snow.16. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Yoga. Stupid back.17. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Taking my dog, Annabelle, to the emergency vet.18. How did you spend Christmas?
Hanging out with friends and family.19. What was your favorite TV program?
It's a toss up between "The Walking Dead" and "Breaking Bad." I think Walter should kill some zombies. That would ROCK.
|I *heart* Daryl.|
20. What were your favorite books of the year?
The Hunger Games has to top the list. Can't wait for the movie this year!
21. What was your favorite music from this year?
Pitbull is always fun, and I love Eminem's new stuff. (Gotta represent the "D.")
22. What were your favorite films of the year?
I really liked Hanna and The Muppet Movie. Strange extremes, huh?23. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
If you haven't seen Hanna (and you are into violent films), you DEFINITELY should.
I can't believe it's been passed over for awards.
We probably went out to eat (see -- I don't remember anything!), and I turned thirty-something. That's all you need to know.24. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
"Immeasurably" is a strong word. But, I would have liked another vacation with my family. That would have been nice.25. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Simple and comfortable professional. Most of my outfits usually involve something black and/or something purple.26. What kept you sane?
Yoga, date nights, dinner at the table with hubby and kids, visiting with family and friends.27. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
My back was not meant to bend THAT way. Ouch. Just because the skinny girl next to me in yoga class is doing it doesn't mean I need to try. I don't need to prove anything to her.
