Five Question Friday: Christmas, Xmas, Yuletide, Winter Solstice...

1. Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Christmas morning, of course!  The kids will be up bright and early bouncing on our bed asking if it is morning yet, saying Santa has come!!!  I'll drag my butt outta bed while hubby continues to snooze, and let the kids open their stockings.  They'll open their "From Santa" present, then we'll force daddy outta bed.  It may involve small children and jumping.  Then, the present onslaught will begin!  Later, we'll have a brunch with my immediate family and more presents!!!

2. What is your favorite Christmas cookie (or candy)?

It's gotta be the peanut butter Hershey kiss cookies.  When the kisses are still soft.  Heaven.

3. What's the worst Christmas gift you've ever received?

Well, my extended family does a "Yankee swap" every year (bring a gift, and open a random one -- stealing is allowed!).  There have been some doozy white elephants (including an actual white elephant).  However, I was 8 or 9, my great aunt gave me a toy that was appropriate for a 3-year-old.  I was so devastated.  I felt like she didn't remember me or like me.  Why would she give me a toy for a baby?  I don't even remember what it was.  I remember my mom trying to convince me "it's the thought that counts," but that's tough for an 8-year-old!

4. Christmas song that you love?

I *love* the Trans Siberian Orchestra.  Rockin' Christmas music -- with great message.  Can you beat that?

And guess what??? I just looked at the Trans Siberian Orchestra website -- for today (December 10th) ONLY -- they are offering their album for only $2.99!!!! What a deal!

5. How many trees do you put up?

What a sign of the times that this is a question!  It's no longer about "how big" a tree you get -- but how MANY!

By the way -- we put up two.  One fake, one real.  I love having a real one, but if we put up the real one too early then we just have a pile of needles by Christmas. So I bought a fake one a few years ago.  Now I can put up my "fancy" decorations on the fake tree, and all the "family" decorations wait for the real tree.

Love it! We open gifts Christmas morning. But we make them do it one at a time and watch each other - I love to drag it out! This is AFTER we brush our teeth, make coffee, pour coffee, take pictures, get the garbage bag ready - it's all about the dragging out!! I love WINTER music - Baby It's Cold Outside, Frosty the Snowman etc. We have two fake trees. Next year for the first time ever we are doing a real one - I'm excited! Happy Weekend!

Last time I participated in a white elephant gift exchange I brought a lamp, the base was a white elephant. I kind of wanted to keep it for myself.
