My little piece of heaven

This is my response to the Mama Kat's prompt: Post a picture and a description that fits into this quote for you:

“How far to heaven? Just open your eyes and look. You are in heaven”

-Shankar*

Mama's Losin' It

*Warning: I'm in a snarky mood.

Ah, yes, I live in my little piece of heaven, AKA suburban Detroit.  Why is this place so amazing?  let me tell you...

Because -- clearly -- heaven is where all the good American patriots live.

And the checkered overall buddha lives here, too.  We rub his belly every time we go to his temple.

Plus, we have wide open spaces...

And classic cars!

And the outpouring of love and terms of endearment are everywhere.

Sealing the deal -- I know this is heaven because
I know where the other place is.

It's about 45 minutes west of here.

Which, by the way, is a really fun place!

Well, maybe not for everyone....

AubreyRose: Yes, there is a Hell, Michigan. The "story" is that when they were naming the town the wealthiest guy in town wanted it named after himself. When the other townspeople had other ideas, he said "Fine! You can name it Hell for all I care!" So, they did!

Hahaha, that's hilarious! I love how Hell just embraces its name. And how you embrace the snark :-)

I went to Detroit once, a few years ago, and had no idea I was so close to Hell! I have been to Hell, Grand Cayman twice though. It wasn't so bad. :)

We apparently had the same blog plans for the last few days - I did WMW and Mama Kat for the first time this week :)

Love your post - I've never been to Detroit, or Hell - but will make a point of stopping by Hell if I'm ever in that neck of the woods - it would make for awesome photos like the ones you posted.

I'm now following you! All the best.
