Wordless Wednesday: My puppy Annabelle, heading to surgery today

This is my puppy (she's 11 years old).  She's an adorable Rottweiler mix, loves everybody, and snuggles with me every night. We adopted her from a rescue agency 7 years ago.  She is heading to surgery today to have her left hind leg amputated because she has a large and malignant nerve sheath tumor on her knee.  The prognosis for being cancer-free after the surgery --- and recovery as a 3-legged dog -- is quite high, so we are very optimistic.  But it is still scary to put our little doggy through such a traumatic event.

Oh sweety, that's so hard. My thoughts and prayers are with little Annabelle. My boys (two Chihuahuas) were my life before I had kids and I still think and worry about them as they get older. I know it's scary, but hang in there. she'll just need lots of love and attention. Dogs are so very resilient. Hugs.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Annabelle is out of surgery, doing well. The vet said she can probably come home tomorrow!
